How to Stay Healthy When RVing
When you're trying to get up and go in an RV, you need to do your best to maintain your health and well-being.
Let's face it -- when people put miles on their RV, they're not necessarily eating the healthiest foods or living the healthiest lifestyle. That is, unless they put the time and effort into planning accordingly.
Plenty of people today are choosing to live in an RV year-round, which means they don't always have the luxury of letting their health slip like they would for a short-term trip.
If RVing is your passion, but you still want to stay healthy, consider these tips so that you get the best of both worlds.
Set Up a Pullup Bar
Muscle tone is one of the first things to go if you don't stay on top of it. After all the work you've put in to build muscle and look great, this is the last thing you would want.
You can prevent this by having a pull-up bar installed in your RV. This way, your vacation doesn't have to be sedentary, since you and everyone in your camp can take turns trying to beat each other's pull-up record.
Make sure that you install a bar that will be snug and secure so that it can support all of your weight.
Save Room For Lots of Refrigerator Space
Many people become unhealthy on the road because they're eating out too much. The healthiest way to eat on the road is to buy groceries whenever you can.
In order to keep fresh produce from perishing, you'll need refrigerator space on your RV. This way, you will always have lots of fruits and veggies and can keep all of your snacks and lunches fresh.
This also helps you not waste food. When you're eating out, your food will go bad quickly if you don't have somewhere to store it. If you're making any upgrades when going RVing, be sure that you have all of the refrigerator space that you need.
Keep Fresh Water on Tap
If you're always on the go and stuck in traffic, we also lose some precious hydration. To offset this, either stock lots of water in your RV refrigerator or install a filtration system on tap that gives you water on demand.
This is great for your health and well-being in a lot of different ways. For example, did you know that losing even 2% of your water content will have noticeable side effects?
So imagine if you are chronically dehydrated and not getting anywhere near the water intake that you require. When you get dehydrated, your brain becomes impaired, which can hamper your concentration and make it difficult to put in those miles on the road in your RV.
Being hydrated also makes it so that you don't have nagging headaches and that you're getting better sleep as a whole. In addition to stocking up on food, make sure that water is a huge priority on your next RV trip.
Plan Out Your Recipes in Advance
The best thing you can do for your health is to make sure that you are planning out your meals both with taste and nutrition in mind.
It is easier to get the best of these options when you plan your recipes as far in advance as possible. Along with your RV maintenance and packing list, make sure that you put together a huge list of recipes for the trip.
Having some go-to recipes will allow you to get nutritious food that lets you snack on the go without having to make as many stops. This gets you to your destination quicker and makes sure that you are eating healthy.
Map Out Healthy Restaurants to Eat At on the Trip
When planning your route, make sure that you are aware of the food options on the way. By scoping out healthy restaurants in advance, you can map out these stops so that you don't miss a beat.
The last thing you would want is to stop at the first restaurant you find and find yourself mulling through unhealthy menu items.
Do your due diligence by researching the restaurant in advance and even see about placing a pickup order if you just want to grab some food and go.
The better you plan out your restaurant options, the healthier you will be while RVing.
Get a Gym Membership That You Can Use on the Go
If you really want to get a full-fledged workout while on the go, subscribe to gyms that are available all over.
Whether this means going the Gold's Gym, 24 Hour Fitness, or Planet Fitness route, or looking up visitors passes for gyms in your travels, this research can help you out. Bring some workout clothes and stay on top of your laundry as well.
Maintain the Most Comfortable Sleeping Quarters
It's important that you get great sleep so that you stay fresh while on the road. Keep plush mattresses and do your best to get 8 hours whenever possible.
This way, your mind will stay sharp and you'll be alert every day on the road.
